Hello, my name is Gill Dawson.
I specialise in the adoption and rehabilitation process of rescue dogs, helping people and their new friend settle together and learn about each other in a calm and POSITIVE way.
I also offer classes teaching puppies and adolescent to senior dogs.

I love dogs and I love helping people communicate on a deeper level with their dog.
A dog enters adolescence from 6mths of age much earlier than most people realise, so whilst thinking their puppy will ‘grow out’ of whatever troubling behaviour they are displaying this behaviour may get stronger as the dog ages unless an alternative behaviour is taught to them.
A dog’s brain neurons continue to develop at this stage along with their hormones but unfortunately not always in sync with each other which means some dogs can lose their ability to self-control and self regulate so when they feel the need to do something they just simply have to do it.
This is the age when so many dogs are rehomed or put into rescue, however, this is the time they most need the help from us. Understanding why certain behaviour happens is the start of helping your dog and forming a fantastically strong bond between you both.
For twenty four years I have had a Professional Grooming and Reiki Healing for Animals business and have worked with all breeds and temperaments of dogs. I now work on a mobile basis inside customer’s homes around the Greater Manchester and Lancashire area.

Puppy Classes
Puppy classes are for puppies from the age of 12wks-20wks of age and have received their full inoculations. Basic learning skills are covered along with positive socialization, initial grooming, the start of lead walking and introduction to recall.
Adolescent Dogs
Introducing more exercises and learning techniques and what I think are absolute musts in helping to keep both guardian and dog as safe as can be: a rock solid stay, lead walking and recall.
Zoom Classes
Individual zoom classes and home visits can be arranged for dogs who are barky, shy, timid, fearful or reactive to other dogs or people. Please contact me via email and a price can be given once an assessment is made of what you and your dog require.

Dogs are sending and giving us thousands of messages each day most of which we miss. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to recognise more of these signals which will help you deepen your understanding of your canine friend.
When you do have a better understanding of what they are trying to communicate to us you can see how unique your individual dog is and this will help you to help them with their everyday life, understand why they’re drawn to the actions they are and what their own time frame is for learning new things.

Gill has kindly looked after our somewhat temperamental Lhasa Apso, Charlie, for the last 14 years. Charlie is incredibly difficult, even for us as his owners, to deal with, but Gill seems to use her deft skills to handle him brilliantly and literally has him eating out of her hand as she skilfully grooms him, as and when it's needed. Pet Friends is a wonderful pet home grooming service, Gill grooms both of our Mini Schnauzer’s and is extremely gentle with our older boy Harley, who she has been grooming for 14 years. Harley is extremely nervous of being groomed, but Gill is extremely gentle and patient with him. We could not send Harley or Mabel to anyone else, as we trust Gill complicitly for her many years of grooming knowledge, her dog loving approach and her professionalism.
Gilly has been our dog groomer for many years now and is the only groomer I would choose to care for our dogs. She is very patient and understanding to individual dog’s needs and temperaments as I have a very nervous little dog but Gilly’s calming and gentle approach works wonders to reassure her. Being a mobile groomer is great for us as it means the dogs don’t have to be left in unfamiliar surroundings and the house is always left clean and tidy when she’s done. Each time the dogs are groomed they are trimmed exactly as requested and nothing is too much trouble. She is an excellent groomer and I can’t recommend her enough, she is brilliant with our dogs and the only one I trust.
I have been taking my dog Bobby to see Gill for around 8 years after using a couple of other local groomers that left Bobby petrified of going to the groomers. He may look small and fluffy but he is a demon in the groomers. Gill is so patient with him even though he is aggressive for the whole process. One one occasion Gill noticed a wart growing on his tail that we hadn't seen and if we didn't do anything about it the vet told us it would have become a very serious infection. Gill now visits us at home which is fantastic as we both work from home. It's no longer a job we have to squeeze in on weekends. I honestly wouldn't trust anybody else to cut Bobbys hair , Gill is fantastic and her obvious love for all animals is clear to see I would highly recommend Gill to anybody looking for a groomer.
Gillian has been grooming my 2 Shih Tzu’s for over 11 years. They are a difficult pair to groom. They hate it. But Gillian is patient , kind and caring. Excellent at her job. I would not let anyone else groom them.

Gillian has been grooming my two dogs for many years now and is absolutely amazing.
